A GOLDEN staycation at RACV Goldfields Resort, Creswick

We kicked off the school holidays with a relaxing mini break at RACV Goldfields Resort, a fantastic family-friendly resort located in Creswick, a gorgeous town in the heart of Victoria's Goldfields.

We have stayed at the hotel a couple of times before but this is the first time we have stayed since it became a RACV Resort, and we could not have enjoyed it more!

Creswick is a very special place for my family as it is where my Dad grew up! His family owned the British Hotel in town, so the pub was literally my dad’s childhood home and it is always so nice to return to Creswick with Dad.

It could not be a sweeter welcome at the resort - in the lobby is this adorable vintage cart with 'Home-made Lemonade 'and candy bar.

Waiting in our rooms were these incredible treat plates. Pictured above is the 'Goldfields' themed treat plate that was in our room - the strawberries were dusted with gold and there were even gold honeycomb ‘nuggets’!

Pictured below is the gorgeous chocolate dessert plate that was waiting in Mum and Dad's room! Divine!

We stayed in a Premium Fairway Suite which had stunning views over the golf course. The room had two king beds, but the second king bed was split into two singles for the kids.

The little ones loved the enormous bath in our room and opening up the bathroom doors to look out over the golf course while they relaxed in the bath.

On the second day of our mini-break we took the kids into Creswick town to show them Dad's childhood home, the British Hotel! There are so many gorgeous shops and cafes in the town, including Creswick Flowers at Olicartia (below) and a beautiful French patisserie called Le Peche Gourmand.

Creswick is also a short drive away from Ballarat and also Victoria's Spa Country, Daylesford and Hepburn Springs.

There are loads of family-friendly activities to enjoy at RACV Goldfields including golf, tennis, an amazing playground complete with zipline, bike riding, outdoor heated pool and indoor spa, gym, two games rooms, kangaroo walking trail, day spa and so much more.

Kangaroo spotting at RACV Goldfields Resort. The Kangaroos make their way on to the golf course fairway at dusk and dawn each day.

Pictured above is the games room adjacent to the Springs Bar & Terrace. In the school holidays the hotel opens up a second games room on the ground floor with table tennis, giant jenga, basketball, Connect 4 and other games to keep the little ones entertained.

We were only at the resort for 48 hours but the kids enjoyed three long swims in the heated outdoor pool.

The resort also runs a full activity program for the kids each school holidays including daily sports clinics, nature walks, movie nights, cupcake decorating (pictured above) and even a disco! And can you believe every single one of these activities were complimentary? The kids had so much fun and have asked if we can return to RACV Goldfields every holidays!

The food at the resort is fabulous and they cater so beautifully for younger guests too. The Buffet Breakfast is served each day in Harvest Restaurant which is on the ground floor next to the pool. The breakfast is fantastic with a huge assorted of fruits, delicatessen, cereal bar, juice bar, egg station and fresh pastries. There were even hot jam donuts for the kids and a pancake bar. Harvest Restaurant also opens at night for dinner between 6pm-9pm.

The Springs Bar & Terrace is open for all day dining day in the holidays and we had dinner in the bar both nights because it was so fantastic for the kids with the games room right next door - as soon as they finished their meals they headed into the games room for some fun until we had finished our meals.

I finished the staycation with a massage in the hotel’s ‘One Spa’... heaven! Ange was my massage therapist and my relaxation massage was incredible! I seriously left the hotel feeling like we’d had a week long holiday, and we had only been there for two nights!

I highly recommend RACV Goldfields Resort for a school holiday staycation, it truly is a paradise for kids (and big kids) and RACV has thought of everything to ensure guests of all ages have a relaxing stay! The staff are so warm, friendly and accommodating, it is a tranquil and relaxed setting and with the kids happily entertained and occupied you will leave the resort feeling refreshed and relaxed. If you are an RACV Auto or Club Member you’re also entitled to some huge savings at the resort so be sure to check it out at www.racv.com.au/travel-leisure/racv-resorts. Thank you RACV Goldfields for such a wonderful staycation! We will be back again soon! Xx
